What If My Kids Won’t Stand Still and Smile At The Camera For Our Family Photo Session?

Client Resources

“My kids aren’t good at smiling at the camera.”  This is a concern that parents often express when booking a family photo session.  This is completely ok for my sessions. 95% of the photos I take aren’t looking ones where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling.  Although I try to get at least one of these photos during each session, my bigger goal is to capture your family’s connection.  I want you to play with your kids.  Play is when everyone’s personalities shine through.

I like to come up with activities/games for the family to do during the family photo session so that we can get as natural of pictures as possible. This can be anything from cuddling to Simon says. I want to make the session a fun experience. I have three girls myself, so I also understand that we need to go with the flow depending on how the session is going. We will follow the lead of your kids for what they want to do during the session. I will suggest games to play and encourage your kids to participate. Sometimes a little extra motivation like offering a treat can go a long way. We will figure out the best way to get natural pictures of your family.

So, if your kids aren’t good at smiling at the camera, don’t worry!
