There’s a lot to love about in home photo sessions. No rushing out the door, no worrying about keeping everyone perfectly posed — just your family, your space, and all the little moments that make this season of life yours.
This family’s in-home maternity photo session was exactly that: cozy, fun, and completely relaxed. And, of course, their golden retrievers were an important part of the story!
We spent time cuddling, playing, laughing, and simply enjoying each other. Their pup happily joined in, adding plenty of personality (and a little extra chaos!) to the photos. Those are some of my favorite moments to capture — the ones that happen naturally when everyone can just be themselves.
Later, I returned for an in-home newborn session, and the atmosphere was just as sweet. Soft snuggles, tiny details, sleepy baby moments, and lots of love filled their home. Their golden retriever was never far away, making it clear that this new little one had already been welcomed into a very loving family.
In-home newborn photography is about more than beautiful portraits. It’s about documenting what this season actually feels like — the quiet mornings, the familiar rooms, the family pet who wants to be involved, and the way everyone naturally gathers around a brand-new baby.
These sessions were a beautiful reminder that the best photos don’t always happen in perfect, picture-perfect settings. Sometimes they happen on the couch, in the nursery, on the floor with the dog, or in the middle of an ordinary afternoon at home.
And years from now, those ordinary moments may be the ones that mean the most.
I loved capturing this family in their own space, surrounded by the people (and pup!) they love most. Cozy, genuine, and full of connection — exactly how family photography should feel.
