This was my first extended family photo session of the year and it was so much fun. I have a few more coming up this summer, so I thought I would write up my flow for extended family sessions since they are a little different than a typical family session. I had so much fun exploring the lower fields of Elm Bank with this family.
For every session, I have a plan in mind, but if a little one isn’t feeling it we will follow their lead and make adjustments to the plan as needed.
I start extended family photo sessions with the whole group together and then move on to grandparents with grandkids. This ensures that we are getting the big shots before the kids get antsy and tired.
Then, I move on to individual family photos. This allows for some breaks for kids to play and not be photographed. I do my best to get as many different combinations as we can. If you have a specific combination of people that you want to be sure to get, please let me know.
