Summer in Metro West Boston can be unpredictable, and this season brought its fair share of rainy and dark days. One such day happened to coincide with this beautiful newborn photoshoot. Now, while my preference is always to use the soft, natural light that filters through your windows, sometimes Mother Nature has other plans.

As I arrived at the family’s cozy home, the rain was falling steadily outside. But here’s the thing, as a seasoned in-home newborn photographer, I’ve learned that a little rain can’t dampen the spirits or the creativity.

In-home newborn sessions have a special place in my heart. They offer a unique opportunity to capture families in their most comfortable and natural setting. There’s a charm to photographing a baby in their nursery, surrounded by the love and warmth of their parents.

On this rainy day, we embraced the coziness of the indoors. We started in the nursery, capturing intimate moments as the baby drank a bottle and his two older brothers played around them.

While I always strive to use natural light whenever possible, I come prepared for days like these. A well-placed flash can create the look of natural light beautifully.
