I love morning photo sessions.  In the summer you can beat the heat and avoid crowds!  Some of the locations I use for evening sessions aren’t ideal for morning session.  Morning sessions need the sun to rise behind trees to create diffused golden light.   Here are a few of my favorite morning photo session Metro West Boston Massachusetts locations.

1. Barber Reservation, Sherborn MA

Tucked away in Sherborn, Barber Reservation is a quiet, natural area perfect for photographers looking to capture the essence of rural Massachusetts. This location features rolling meadows, wooded trails, and scenic views of wetlands, offering a variety of backdrops for both landscape photography and portraits.

Why It’s Perfect for a Morning Photo Session:

• The soft morning light streaming through the trees provides beautiful dappled lighting in the wooded areas.
• The area is peaceful in the early hours, giving photographers the chance to shoot uninterrupted.

Barber Reservation is particularly beautiful in autumn when the foliage adds vibrant colors to the landscape, but it’s equally stunning year-round.

2. Heard Farm, Wayland MA

Heard Farm is a sprawling 85-acre conservation area in Wayland, offering vast open fields, woodland paths, and scenic views of the Sudbury River. Known for its agricultural history, the land features wide grassy meadows that offer plenty of opportunities for photography.

• Wide-open fields are bathed in golden light during the morning hours, perfect for dynamic, natural compositions.
• The secret orchard nestled among the fields is a perfect location for family photos.

3. Farm Pond, Framingham MA

If you’re looking for a serene waterfront location, Farm Pond in Framingham is a beautiful spot to capture during the early morning. With its calm waters and scenic backdrop, it’s an excellent location for both landscape and portrait photographers. The pond is surrounded by trees, and in autumn, the foliage reflects brilliantly on the still water.

4. Springdale Field, Dover MA

Springdale Field, located in Dover, offers vast open spaces, making it ideal for family photography.  The wide, grassy fields, bordered by trees and small pockets of forest, are especially beautiful in the soft light of the early morning.

Springdale Field is a hidden gem in the area and provides a setting that comes alive with the morning sun.  Families can enjoy running around and playing in this secluded field.
