I am so appreciative when clients are flexible with moving the time of photo sessions to try to avoid the rain. I spend way too much time worrying about the weather and obsessively checking the hourly reports when there is a chance of rain on session days. We made a last-minute decision to change the time for this session and it was so worth it!
I schedule my photo sessions based on when the light will most likely be soft and glowy. This is typically the 2 hours after sunrise and before sunset. Sometimes mother nature doesn’t follow our plan through. So, what are the reasons to reschedule a session? If it’s going to be raining during your session, then we would reschedule. For overcast days, wet ground, or not ideal temperatures we just go with it and still get great pictures. What I’m most concerned about is capturing your family’s connection and as long, as it’s not actively raining, we will do just that. If we need to change your session time, my goal is to be able to reschedule your session the same day at a different time or within a week of your original date. I know families can’t always be flexible with nap schedules and activities, but when you can I really appreciate it. The weather is something I have no control over, yet it greatly impacts my ability to hold sessions. It has been a particularly rainy summer so thank you to all my clients who have been flexible with moving sessions around!
