I love morning family photo sessions! there’s something truly special about those crisp, chilly mornings that bring families together in a beautiful, authentic way. I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely family on one of those cold mornings, and despite the brisk air, we managed to warm up with laughter, running around, cuddling, and even blowing dandelions.
As the sun began to rise higher, the light became even more beautiful, casting a soft, golden glow over everything. It’s one of the reasons I’m drawn to morning sessions. The light is softer, the locations are quiet, and there’s an unhurried pace to it all. No one’s tired or battling bedtime crankiness—just a fresh start to the day with plenty of energy to burn.
What I love most about morning family photo sessions like this is the connection that emerges as we all ease into the fun. The chill in the air only made the cuddles tighter and the smiles bigger. As the family snuggled up under a blanket, the warmth of their love was undeniable—and that’s what shines through in the photos.
Morning family photo sessions, offer a blend of beauty and spontaneity. The air may be brisk, but the moments are full of warmth, joy, and connection. These are the kinds of memories that families will look back on and cherish, not just because of the beautiful photos, but because of the love and laughter that filled the air. One of my favorite moments from this session was when the kids found dandelions still standing in the field. Watching them blow the seeds into the air, faces full of wonder and excitement, was a perfect snapshot of childhood.
If you’re considering a family photo session, I can’t recommend a morning slot enough. Whether it’s a cool fall morning or a dewy spring one, there’s something about the early hours that makes the experience—and the photos—extra special.
Warmth, love, and golden light—what more could you ask for in a family session?
