Have your tried Reiki before? Sara’s calm during this session was intoxicating. I left this session feeling so relaxed. It was an honor to work with Sara on her new branding photos and I am so excited for her to share about herself and her business with you!
What brought you to opening your business?
I first learned about Reiki when I trained to become an End-of-Life Doula. I was impressed and intrigued as I learned about this gentle but powerful energy healing technique from Japan and how effective it is for relieving pain and suffering for the dying. I went to try a session for myself and was blown away by the experience, and started my own Reiki training the next week.
Over time, I came to realize through my self-practice and through doing Reiki on friends, family, and pets that Reiki has tremendous benefits for anyone and everyone, not only the dying. I saw how effective it can be at calming emotional distress, easing physical tension, and promoting spiritual growth. I wanted to share these amazing benefits with more people, so I invested in a massage table and opened up shop. I’m now proud to offer Reiki sessions to anyone looking to experience the transformative power of the practice. My goal is to help you feel your best on every level–physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
What is something that makes your business special?
While I’m a very spiritual person, I’m academic and practically-minded in equal measure. I approached Reiki with a healthy dose of suspicion! However, after extensive research and personal investigation, I have become a true believer in the effectiveness of the practice. I love discussing energy work with people in grounded, clear language and addressing any questions or concerns people may have.
Poetics of the Body is also special because I am driven by a deep passion for holistic healing. I am going back to school for my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Holistic Studies Specialization, and I love continually integrating perspectives and modalities from different traditions to facilitate the deepest healing experience for my clients.
What might people not know about you or your business that you would want them to know?
I think it’s normal and natural to have a little bit of skepticism or even fear around things like Reiki and energy healing. Until you’ve experienced it, it can be a difficult thing to understand. I want everyone to know that Reiki is gentle and non-invasive. During a session, you remain fully clothed and will simply lie down or sit comfortably while I place my hands on or near your body—no pressure or pain involved. For everyone I’ve shared Reiki with, the experience has been very calming, soothing, and balancing.
As a Reiki Practitioner, I have come to believe that healing is a collective endeavor that extends from our physical bodies to our households, communities, and the world at large. Reiki has been a critical support for me on my journey, and I am passionate about sharing its healing power with others. When you are at peace and in authentic alignment, you are better able to show up as your best self in all areas of your life–and this world needs your unique gifts and contributions!
With this in mind, at Poetics of the Body I am committed to making Reiki and energy work accessible to those who need it. If you are in deep need of a session and cannot afford my posted fees, please reach out to me directly at sara@poeticsofthebodyllc.com to discuss alternative arrangements. And for those who can afford the fees, your generosity helps support my efforts to share Reiki with even more members of our community.
Together we can tap into the power of energy to support your healing journey and elevate the collective well-being of our world.
What is something you love about Natick Massachusetts?
I grew up in Los Angeles, where green spaces were few and far between. One thing I absolutely adore about Natick and Massachusetts in general is all of the easy access to nature. Some of my favorite spots to get outside nearby are the Hunnewell Town Forest, Elm Bank in Wellesley, and the Cochituate Rail Trail. If you ever see me out and about, please don’t hesitate to say hi!
