As a lifestyle photographer based in Natick, Massachusetts, I have the incredible privilege of documenting life’s most precious moments. Each session is a unique journey, and when I get to work with a family from start to finish, it’s even more special. Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing a beautiful maternity photo session followed by a newborn photo session for a wonderful Framingham family—and their adorable dog!
The Maternity Photo Session: A Summer Dream in the Field in Wayland Massachusetts.
When we first met for their maternity shoot, it was the height of summer. The sun was warm, and the air was full of the scent of fresh grass and wildflowers. The family wanted to capture the anticipation of their growing family in a natural, relaxed setting, so we chose a local field with tall grass and golden light.
The parents-to-be were absolutely radiant as they shared this moment of excitement and love before their little one arrived. And of course, their loyal dog was right there with them, happily participating in the shoot. Including pets in photos is one of my absolute favorite things to do, and their dog brought such joy and personality to the session.
The connection between the family and their dog was so palpable, and it was clear how much this fur baby meant to them. The dog sat beside them, playfully running through the grass, and even joined in on some sweet moments between the couple. As a photographer, capturing the bond between a family and their pets makes the images feel even more real and full of love.
The Newborn Photo Session: A Cozy Day at Home in Framingham Massachusetts
A few weeks later, we reunited for their newborn session, and this time, we met in the comfort of their home. There’s something so special about photographing a family in their own space—their home becomes an extension of their story, and the photos feel more intimate and personal. The soft light streaming through the windows, the quiet moments of bonding, and the peaceful atmosphere all came together to create timeless memories.
Their little one was perfect—so tiny, so new, and already surrounded by so much love. The parents were in awe of their newborn, and it was heartwarming to witness them soak in each moment. Just like in the maternity session, their dog was a big part of the family dynamic, and I loved capturing the sweet moments when the dog gently approached the baby, curious and gentle. There’s something so touching about those early days when pets and newborns begin to form a bond—it’s a relationship that will grow and evolve, and having it documented is something that will always be cherished.
I am so thankful to be able to photograph this Framingham Maternity and Newborn photo session.
Why I Love Including Dogs in Photography Sessions
As much as I adore capturing human connections, I have to admit—there’s something extra special about including dogs in a session. Pets are such an integral part of many families’ lives, and their personalities shine through in every shot. Whether it’s the playful energy of a dog running through a field or the gentle presence they bring to a newborn session, dogs are often the silent observers of these big moments. They show up in the background of the family story, loving unconditionally and being there through every chapter.
For me, photography isn’t just about documenting the milestones—it’s about capturing the essence of who a family is at that moment. A dog is part of that essence, and I love how their inclusion brings authenticity, warmth, and personality to the images. Whether they’re curling up on the couch or running around in the field, their presence helps tell a more complete story of the family.
If you’re in the Metro Wet Boston area and you’re expecting or have a newborn at home, I’d love to work with you to create timeless photos that tell your story—pets included, of course! Whether you want a peaceful maternity session in a field or a cozy in-home newborn shoot, I’m here to capture these special moments in a way that feels natural and authentic to you.
