During this cozy in-home newborn photo session, it was clear from the start: this sweet boy was happiest in his parents’ arms—and that’s exactly where we kept him.
We gently tried setting him down a few times, hoping for a few solo shots, but he let us know loud and clear that he wasn’t a fan. And that’s perfectly okay. One of the things I love most about newborn sessions is that the baby leads the way. There’s no pressure to pose or perform—we simply meet them where they are. In this case, it meant lots of snuggles, soft whispers, and the kind of closeness that makes for the most genuine photos.
We captured a handful of sweet images on the bed, but most of the magic unfolded in the arms of mom and dad—where he felt safe, loved, and completely at ease. These are the moments that matter most, and documenting that connection is always my priority.
One especially meaningful part of this session was the inclusion of a handmade heirloom bassinet, lovingly crafted by mom’s grandmother when she was a baby. What a beautiful nod to family history and the generations of love that surround this little one.
And to make it even more special, the family had just moved into their home. They asked if we could take a photo outside to mark this new beginning—and of course, we made it happen.
Every newborn session is unique, and this one was a beautiful reminder that there’s no “right” way to do it. Whether your baby wants to stretch out peacefully on their own or spend every minute snuggled up close, I’ll meet them where they are—and capture the love that already surrounds them.
