Welcoming a new baby into the world is one of the most magical moments for any family, and capturing those first few weeks is always such an honor. Recently, I had the privilege of photographing an in-home lifestyle newborn session for two incredible moms and their sweet new baby boy. Their home was filled with so much love and warmth—it was the perfect setting for documenting this special time.

From the moment I stepped through their door, I could feel how relaxed and connected they were as a family. Their love for each other and their little one was palpable.  The session was beautifully unhurried, giving us time to capture genuine, tender moments.  Even their adorable dog, who made the perfect addition to the photos joined in.  Including pets in newborn sessions always adds a layer of personality and charm, and this pup was no exception. He stayed close by, as if he already knew his new role as protector and best friend.

One of the fun surprises of the session was being introduced to neutral pacifiers. I’ll admit, I’d never seen these before! In most of my sessions, brightly colored pacifiers—think neon green or purple—can stand out in photos. Parents often find themselves hurriedly pulling them out before I click the shutter. But these subtle, neutral-toned pacifiers blended seamlessly into the aesthetic of the session, keeping everything cohesive and natural. It was such a small detail, but it made a big difference in keeping the session relaxed and the images timeless. I’m officially a fan!

What stood out most during our time together was the deep connection this family shared. Watching the moms support each other and share in the joy of their baby was incredibly moving. The gentle way they held their little one, the quiet laughs they shared, and the way their eyes lit up whenever they looked at their baby were moments that felt so genuine and full of love. Those are the moments I live for as a photographer.

In-home lifestyle sessions like this one are my absolute favorite. They allow families to be themselves in the comfort of their own space, surrounded by the little details that make their house a home. From cuddling on the couch to standing by the nursery window, every part of the session felt authentic and true to who they are as a family.
