Last weekend, I had my first social distancing family photo session since the start of the COVID pandemic. And it was a success!
WHAT WAS DIFFERENT ABOUT THIS PHOTO SESSION?
I wore a mask during the session and stayed at least 6 feet away from my clients at all times. This means that I has to verbally prompt them through poses and activities instead of touching them. I don’t usually do too much touching during sessions anyways, so this wasn’t much of an adjustment.
I used a long lens, so I was able to get both pulled back photos and some close up photos. I couldn’t get up close overhead photos, but other than this not much will be different in their gallery. The family brought their own blanket to sit on, rather than me bringing one.
WHAT WAS THE SAME AS MY TYPICAL OUTDOOR FAMILY PHOTO SESSIONS?
I verbally guided families through prompts. We played games and captured the family’s natural connection. It truly didn’t feel much different than a typical outdoor family session.
