My heart misses photographing families! Non-essential businesses are closed in Massachusetts until at least May 18th.  As this date is approaching, I am starting to think about how to start back up with photo sessions. Once they are allowed, photo sessions will need to adhering to social distancing measures.  Here are my thoughts on how social distancing photo sessions will work:

1.  No touching during photo sessions

Right now, the governor’s order is to wear masks when social distancing isn’t possible.  This means I will keep at least 6 feet of distance from your family at all times. This means I will prompt and guide you with my words. I will not touch your family during these sessions. I will only be doing outdoor sessions at this time. I have an 85mm lens that allows me to stand far back, but still get photos that look closer up.  I typically would bring a few blankets to photo sessions, but I will be asking clients to bring their own blankets.  If we are doing a newborn photo session please also bring your own swaddles to wrap your baby up. I will not touch your belongings so please leave anything you don’t need in the car.

2.  Less populated locations for your photos

I always prefer non crowded locations, but right now this is especially important.  This also means thinking about times of day that locations will be less crowded.  Times close to sunrise and sunset are great for glowy light, but right now will also be better due to locations being less populated at these times.  If you or someone you know has a private property that you think would work well for a photo session please let me know!

3.  Being flexible

Things seem to be changing so quickly these days.  I will work with my clients to make sure we are adhering to the government’s orders as well as making sure everyone is comfortable with the session.

I can’t wait to get back out there and photograph families, but want to ensure that it is done in a safe way that practices social distancing.
